This week as part of #RoadSafetyWeek the Council attended a meeting to discuss our Safer Roads strategy with the Lancashire Road Safety Partnership.
To coincide with Road Safety Week, and in response to the recent public consultation, Blackburn with Darwen Council hosted a Safer Roads Workshop attended by a large number of stakeholders from the Blackburn with Darwen Safer Roads operational group.
The workshop included elected Member Cllr Zainab Rawat, and representation from BwD Council’s Community Safety, Public Health, Growth and Highways teams, Lancashire Fire and Rescue, and BwD Age UK. The get together was an informative and lively meeting to discuss the current draft strategy development and brainstorm ideas for the partnership action planning to assist us all in our efforts to make our roads both safer, and healthier for all of our residents.
Blackburn with Darwen’s Assistant Executive Member for Growth and Development Cllr Zainab Rawat said: “This is an important issue for communities in Blackburn and Darwen and it’s great that we’re working hard to put road safety on the top of the agenda. An action plan from the ideas raised this week will be put together in the coming months, and we’re really pleased to be working with Lancashire Road Safety Partnership to make roads safer for everyone.”
